P.S. The opening that is so important to me? It’s my first big museum show … at the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles. The Autry purchased my painting – “Where the Sea Used to Be” – for their collection, and specifically for this exhibit, several years ago. It is a very in-depth and fascinating exhibit entitled “Homelands: How Women Made the West”, and took many years to put together.I am extremely honored to be one of only a few painters included in the exhibit and have been looking forward to this grand opening for 2+ years.

Last spring, the Autry Museum flew a team out to Boulder specifically to interview me. My husband and I took them up in our Maule M-7 for a personal aerial tour over the landscape that inspired this painting. Then they did a video interview of me to use in the exhibit. In addition, I just found out in February that they have also chosen my painting for the cover of the book that’s been written to accompany the exhibit! So you can see why I’m so excited about this! Since art is my primary passion, you can understand how it is that – even though the Vegas summit with Mark and Ann is very, very tempting and will be an extremely value-filled opportunity, my priorities clearly dictate my presence in L.A. for the Homelands opening. Come to think of it, this painting could have been done in the Vegas area … Here’s a photo of the painting:
